The Lawscot Foundation is currently recruiting new trustees. As a Scottish charity, we help academically talented students from less advantaged backgrounds in Scotland through their legal education journey.
We are looking to appoint committed individuals as volunteer trustees to sit on the Board of the Lawscot Foundation. The Board is responsible for the overall governance, monitoring and strategic direction of the charity. We require dynamic and motivated people who are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Foundation.
Expertise in the following areas would of interest but not essential:
- Financial and/or risk management
- Fundraising*
- Charity law
- PR/marketing
- Higher education, with specific emphasis on widening access programmes
*the position of a trustee with fundraising experience would be a dual appointment. The successful applicant will be a trustee of the Lawscot Foundation and Chair of the Lawscot Foundation fundraising committee. The remit of the fundraising committee can be found here.
Trustees will be expected to:
- Attend up to four meetings a year, including an Annual General Meeting
- Contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis
- Attend events
All travel and out of pocket expenses will be paid.
