Lady Ross joins Lawscot Foundation Board as Lord Ericht steps down

The Lawscot Foundation’s strong relationship with Scotland’s judiciary has been renewed, with Lady Ross replacing longtime supporter Lord Ericht as a trustee for the charity.

Lord Ericht, one of the Foundation’s original trustees, has stepped down after nine years on the Lawscot Foundation Board. The charity, which supports aspiring lawyers facing socioeconomic barriers across Scotland, has endorsed the Lord President’s nomination of Lady Ross as his replacement.

Lady Ross was appointed as a Senator of the College of Justice in June 2024, having previously qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and called to the bar in 2003.

Lawscot Foundation Chair, Kay McCorquodale said: “I extend our sincere thanks to Lord Ericht for the significant and valued contribution he has made to the Lawscot Foundation over nearly a decade as a trustee.

“Lord Ericht has been wholly committed to ensuring we have fair and transparent processes in place, and he has dedicated much of his career to encouraging pupils from all backgrounds to pursue a career in law.

“It has been a great pleasure to welcome Lady Ross to the Lawscot Foundation’s Board, and we look forward to the contribution she will make in supporting our mission to widen access to the legal professions in Scotland.

“Partnerships are essential for the Lawscot Foundation to succeed in its work, and we are extremely grateful to the Scottish judiciary for its continued support.”

Lady Ross said: "I am delighted to be joining the Lawscot Foundation Board. The work that the Lawscot Foundation does in creating opportunities for people, wherever they come from, and in sustaining support, is really valuable. I am looking forward to taking part in that work."
