Laura spent a period of time living in a homeless shelter during school and she's now thriving at Abertay University.
"Estrangement comes with its many challenges, but it has the power to help you grow into yourself. Refusing to let this have a negative impact, I stuck in at school and got the grades I needed. I wanted to help people."
After finding out about the Lawscot Foundation, she got in touch with us. The bursary removed the financial stress of being a student with limited income. And by providing mentoring support Laura now has the support network to talk through any issues or concerns surrounding her studies.

We see mentoring as a key element in helping students develop their skills and confidence. The role of a mentor is hugely valuable to our students throughout their route to qualification.
Each Foundation student receives a yearly bursary. This is to ensure money is not a barrier for them during their route to qualifying as a solicitor in Scotland.
